This movie was about the life of Li cunxin, a boy from China who went to Texas to become a dancer. I wasn't really expecting the movie to be so good. It was really touching and made me sympathize with its main character. The movie gave me a pretty good picture of Li's life, even though there was so much they could cram into a 2 hour movie.
Li's father tells him a story about a frog who lives in a well. I felt like that story matches with Li's life, for he used to be a peasant boy in Shangdong but moves to Texas and he meets a brand new world.
Ever since he was a small boy, Li had to practice ballet in his Arts Academy in Beijing and meets Teacher Chan and he inspires Li to become a better dancer. Unlike instuctor Gao, teacher Chan punctuates the spirit and one's heart when dancing. That's why he believes that the dance the Chinese are developing, and is based on politics isn't a true dance.I believe that teacher Chan played a very important role in making Li's future, and I would say Paulo Coelho is my 'teacher Chan'. His book inspired me to go find my destiny and I believe that is what teacher Chan did for Li as well.
In the movie, Li has to make a decision on whether to stay in the U.S. or to go back to China. For Li to go back, he has to leave everything behind. Even though it causes a lot of problems I believe that he did the right thing because the decision he made came from his heart.
If i had to rate this movie out of 5 stars I'd give it four which is a definite recommendation.
